Holy Trinity choir
Our choir has around 40 members, male and female, adult and child, and normally sings at the 11.00am (Choral Eucharist) and 4.30pm (Evensong) services on a Sunday.
The music is drawn from a very wide-ranging repertoire including Masses by Fauré, Mozart, Howells, Victoria and Palestrina and Motets and Anthems drawn from the 15th to the 21st centuries. On an average Sunday the choir performs a Mass setting, a set of Evening Canticles, two or more psalms and three of four motets/anthems and leads the congregations in seven hymns.
The choir has an active social life which includes visits purely for pleasure as well as musical tours abroad. In recent years the young choristers have visited Jodrell Bank Radio Telescope, the Black Country Museum (and sung in the chapel of course!) and the Birmingham Sea Life Centre. Summer Barbeques and Christmas Socials are well-earned breaks from the busy weekly routine.
The demanding round of practices and services still allows the youngsters to participate in the full programme of young people’s activities at the church.
The choir spends many hours a week as a unit and is therefore inevitably a close-knit family of boys and girls, men and women, caring for each other, worshipping and praying together. The Choir Guild performs the valuable service of providing for the social side of life, organising trips, meals, choristers’ Christmas presents, Easter eggs and outings.
