Summary of the PCC meeting 25th June 2012

The meeting started with a short act of worship led by Amy Vogel assisted by members of the youth group.
 
Peter Griffiths, the churchwarden responsible, gave an update on Leadership of 9.30 congregation.
 
The Treasurer reported details of the management accounts for the period to 31st May and this was followed by a discussion.
 
Peter Griffiths reported on the state of the Generous Giving Campaign. To date approximately 50% response has been achieved. It was felt that the wording had been excellent and the group were commended for results so far. There have been over 20 increases in regular giving so far.
 
Some replacement microphones have had to be purchased due to the imminent changes in frequency licences.
 
A progress report from the Music Review Group was given. A questionnaire had been made widely available to members of all congregations. The group will meet again to assess the results from the questionnaire.
 
Keri Husband gave a Celebrations Committee report. She explained that the committee had been formed to develop the role of “celebration” within our church. Typical occasions will be Harvest, Special Lunches, Christmas Fair etc. A date has been planned (7th October) for Harvest Celebration and the committee anticipate this being followed by a “Mission Week”.
 
Progress report on considering how best HTC can best fulfil its responsibilities as a member of the Cross of Nails network was given. The group is consulting on how best to take our commitment forward; this will include conversations with the Cathedral community members.
 
It was agreed that the church building be closed from Tuesday 25th December 2012 to Tuesday 1st January 2013, inclusive, except for service times on 25th December and 30th December.
 
There was a Preliminary Discussion on “Same Sex Marriage and Human Sexuality”. There was a useful expression of views by many members. Comments and feelings were expressed across the spectrum.
 
The following proposals were approved: that an application be made to the DAC to allow the pews currently in storage to be removed for disposal to specified churches in the south of England; that an application be made to the DAC for roof repairs to the vestry roof using stainless steel, repairs to surrounding stonework and a hopper-head, all due to damage during a recent theft; that an application be made to the DAC for replacement of the damaged stone gate pillar to match the existing undamaged pillar.
 
A report was given into an ongoing review into the roles of Small Groups and how they can be supported. It is expected that the groups will be re-launched in January 2013.
