Summary of the PCC Vision Day 12th May 2012
Following is a summary of the PCC Vision Day which took place on Saturday 12th May 2012.
The day started with a service of Holy Communion led by the Vicar. David Mayhew set the scene for the day drawing parallels from the passages set for the day (Acts 16:1-10; John 15:18-21) and the situation we face in the coming year: a context of conflict, a commitment to conciliation, and a dependence on the compelling power of the Holy Spirit in proclaiming the good news.
Canon David Porter, Canon Director for Reconciliation, Coventry Cathedral, described the Community of the Cross of Nails and answered questions. The PCC agreed that Holy Trinity accepts a Cross of Nails from Coventry Cathedral. This will be received on Sunday 17th June during the break between the 9.30am & 11.00am services.
A paper listing plans on how best to welcome visitors specifically visiting for the London Olympic Games and how to celebrate all aspects of the Olympic Principles was circulated with the agenda, click here to see it.
Membership of the various PCC committees was agreed.
A Diocesan letter giving thanks for the 2011 Parish Share payment had been issued with the agenda. An update on the PCC’s finances and Generous Giving Campaign was given.
The Vicar gave an update on his forthcoming sabbatical and answered questions.
The Director of Music had informed the Vicar that he would be relinquishing his post as of 31st December 2012. There was general agreement to the setting up of a group to review music at Holy Trinity with a preliminary report to June’s PCC meeting. The People’s Warden agreed to facilitate the review.
