Summary of the PCC meeting 12th March 2012
Alison Jackson opened the meeting with the scriptures: Psalm 103:12 – “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us”; Isaiah 38:17 – “You have put all my sins behind your back”; Micah 7:18,19 – “Who is a God like you? You delight to show mercy… You will …hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea”. She commented that we tend to underestimate our sin, but also underestimate what Jesus has done for us in terms of forgiveness.
Abigail Rhodes, Parish Manager, gave a progress report on the church’s website and answered questions.
Vicki Johnson was appointed Parish Safeguarding Officer.
David Mayhew & James Hill explained the current position with regard to John Roy’s testing out of a call to ordained ministry.
The Churchwardens’ annual fabric report was adopted. The PCC expressed their thanks to Sam Corden, for all his work in organising and installing the new gratings.
Approval was given for an application to be made to the DAC for the following works: move the memorial board located in the south west corner of the church to the Peace Chapel; replace a lost circular glass piece in the 'Peace Chapel' window with a 'Star of David' design and cover the current mixture of floor surfaces with a high quality carpet and thick underlay.
The Annual Report & Financial Statements were approved. An update was given on the current financial position of the church, in particular that the anticipated income in the original 2012 budget was too high. After careful discussion the PCC approved a revised budget to reduce the expected deficit. Peter Griffiths reported on the formation of the new Generous Giving working group, which will be working over the next few months to assist us all to review our giving in terms of time, commitment and also money.
Abigail Rhodes gave an update on the preparations for Holy Trinity’s involvement with the 2012 Olympics.
Questions or comments can be passed to any member of the PCC. If you are not sure who we are, then our names and photographs are on the PCC notice board located in the church.
