Making space...
Happy new year!
I can't quite believe that Christmas has been and gone already. We had some wonderful (and amazingly well attended) services over the Christmas period, which were a real blessing to me and lots of others, as well as giving me lots of food for thought for next Christmas!
I've been back in the office for the first time since the break today. I'm sure that I have been like many others returning to their desks after a lovely break, in that I've dreaded seeing what I'd left before I went off on leave! Turns out that it wasn't too bad and I managed to clear up quite a few bits and pieces today. However, my desk is not as tidy or clear as I'd like it to be and our office space generally needs a good tidy up and sort out!
This is planned but I want to try and use this tidying up process to make sure we're making space for what's important. From my point of view, this is about creating spaces for welcome in the church centre, as well as the church. It's about making sure that we aren't carrying so much paper and files that we end up running out of space for people! And it's also about making sure that the staff team and office volunteers can work well together to do the best possible job that we can.
All sounds like pie in the sky but I'm pretty confident that, with the right kind of planning, we can get close to the ideal. It does mean that the recycling bin is probably going to have a late Christmas feast and I'm preparing to apply some good old-fashioned elbow grease but I'm looking forward to clearing space for what God is going to do for us and through us at Holy Trinity this year! |
